The maintenance that never ends

Razors leave you raw. Wax rips and irritates. The hair keeps coming back, and so does the routine. Most blokes accept this as permanent maintenance.

What changes

Laser reduces hair density over time. It targets the follicle, slowing regrowth and thinning what returns. Most clients see noticeably less hair after a course of treatments. Some areas respond better than others, we'll be straight with you about what to expect.

How this is handled here

We work with male hair patterns, thicker follicles, hormone-driven growth, sensitive zones. Same operator each visit. Settings documented and adjusted based on your response. No guesswork.

After 16+ years doing this, we can tell within seconds if laser will work for someone. We'd rather be honest upfront than take your money for something that won't deliver.

Why no packages?

Packages lock you in before you know if it works for you. I'd rather you see results first, then decide if you want to continue.

Most clients book the next session because they saw what the first one did, not because they're locked into a contract.

This is for you if

  • Dark hair on lighter skin responds best
  • Those wanting reduced maintenance
  • Men tired of constant grooming

This may not be suitable if

  • Very light, blonde or grey hair
  • Recent tan or sun exposure
  • Certain skin conditions, assessed first

Not sure if this is right for you? We'll assess your situation in the first few minutes. No charge if it turns out this isn't the right approach.

Common questions

Does it hurt?

Most describe it as a quick flick or rubber band snap. Cooling technology keeps it comfortable. Sensitive areas are manageable.

Is it actually permanent?

Significant long-term reduction, not permanent removal. Most see 70-90% less hair. Some maintenance may be needed due to hormones or dormant follicles.

Why doesn't it work on light hair?

Laser targets pigment (melanin) in the hair. Blonde, grey, or red hair lacks sufficient pigment for the laser to target effectively.

How many sessions do I need?

Typically 6-12 sessions. Hair grows in cycles, we can only treat active follicles. Multiple sessions catch different growth phases.

Can you treat darker skin tones?

Yes. We specialise in ethnic skin. Different settings, different approach. Assessed individually to ensure safe, effective treatment.

Alexandrite vs IPL or diode — does the machine matter?

It does. We use a Polylase Alexandrite (755 nm) laser. Alexandrite suits coarse male hair and gives fast, consistent coverage. IPL is not a true laser and is generally less effective on dense body hair; diode and Nd:YAG have their place, but for most male hair on lighter-to-medium skin the Alexandrite does the job in fewer, faster sessions. Technique and settings matter as much as the device.

Will it work on thick, dense body hair?

Coarse, dark male hair responds well because there is plenty of pigment for the laser to target. Thicker growth on the back, chest and shoulders is exactly what this is built for. We set the machine for your hair and skin, not a one-size preset.

How far apart are sessions, and why does laser sometimes "fail"?

Sessions are usually spaced 4–8 weeks so we treat hair in its active growth phase. Laser "fails" most often from under-powered settings, rushed partial coverage, treating light or grey hair, or stopping too early. We document settings each visit and give you an honest read on what your hair will and won't do.

Real clients. Real results.

Before and after

Results after completing a full treatment course. Individual results vary depending on hair type, skin tone and treatment area.

What actually works

Most laser clinics rush treatments.

Many clinics rush treatments and skip areas so they can move on to the next client. That's why people often get patchy results and think laser doesn't work.

Proper laser treatments take time and full coverage. At The Nerdy Dermy®, every treatment is performed methodically to ensure consistent coverage of the entire area.

Our equipment

Why we use Polylase

We intentionally use a Polylase Alexandrite (755 nm) laser because it delivers fast, effective results without needing multiple machines.

3x faster treatments

Large spot size and high repetition speed allow full coverage quickly without rushing the treatment.

Stronger on hair, gentler on skin

Alexandrite lasers are highly effective for coarse hair while remaining comfortable for the surrounding skin.

More comfortable sessions

Faster pulses and efficient coverage mean shorter, less irritating treatments.

Effective on dystrophic hair

Particularly effective for dystrophic hair that has been undertreated by weaker devices.

Meet Vanessa

The Nerdy Dermy®

Vanessa has over 16 years of experience performing laser treatments. She was ranked Top 10 worldwide in The Skin Games and personally performs every treatment rather than delegating to junior staff.

The Nerdy Dermy® is a female owner-operator clinic that specialises in men, including male intimate and Brazilian laser, handled professionally and without fuss. Same operator, same settings, same standard every session. Based in Erskine Park, we see men from across Penrith, St Marys, Mount Druitt, Eastern Creek, Minchinbury and wider Western Sydney.

Male Brazilian: The Smooth Criminal

There's a reason people keep coming back.

It's not just the laser. It's having the same therapist who remembers how you like things done, knows your routine and doesn't make you explain yourself every visit.

Sometimes the best service is the stuff you barely notice.

Good laser is expected. The rest shouldn't be hard work.

Common problem, long-term fix

Laser for ingrown hairs

Reducing the hair growth reduces the bumps and irritation caused by shaving. Laser targets the follicle directly, so there's far less hair left to curl back under the skin and cause painful ingrowns.

Most clients see ingrown hairs settle within 3 to 4 sessions. It's a long-term fix that addresses the root cause, not just the symptoms.

Works on chest, neck, beard line and body. Especially effective on thick, coarse male hair. Suitable for most skin tones, including darker skin, assessed first.
